Qin

Qin

I was born and grew up in a remote village of Guizhou, with a typical childhood which most kids in those small villages have. When I go back to my hometown every year, I see boys and girls who are nice and sweet, washing clothes by hand by the river, sitting on the ground and playing with stones, wearing the clothes which don’t fit them…
They remind me of how extremely lucky I have been, because of all the nice people who have inspired me and helped me in my life. That’s why I started ICARE Guizhou with Cedric. We want to support the health and education of kids from Guizhou. We want to bring the same kind of luck to these kids. We want them to know that they can have a better life and they have the opportunity to follow their dreams. And of course, we want to bring more people together in support of this common goal!

I was born in India and grew up in Belgium, where I was fortunate to meet Qin during my masters studies at the university of Leuven. Currently I live and work just outside Brussels. I was very moved when Qin explained the idea for ICARE, a project that is close to her home and heart. I volunteered to help with the first round of english courses which I found to be interesting and motivating. I was able to meet face to face (over the internet) with some of the children this organization aims to help, and have a better understanding of their perspective. I am excited to be part of this meaningful organization and look forward to helping however I can.

Hi there, I'm Cedric, I studied Economics at KU Leuven, which, I suppose, automatically earned me the title of treasurer for ICARE. I filed all the paperwork to found the organisation as a legal entity in Belgium, and I make sure the gifts are managed in an open and transparent way. For now most of our projects don't involve any money yet, but hopefully we can set up some more ambitious projects in the future!

I was born in the Netherlands and studied in Germany, where I met Qin. When she asked me to join ICARE, I was really moved by her story about left-behind children in Guizhou. I helped out by teaching remote english conversation lessons for a small group of local high school kids. The lessons were great fun and I felt that we built up a lasting connection with the kids. I think that ICARE will give the kids in Guizhou the opportunities that every child in the world deserves, and I'm excited to be a part of it!

Pa

I am Pa, who is thrilled to be in a part of a good cause as an organizer. I’m one of the lucky kids from Taiwan that got the chance to see how the other side of this world looks like in the front row. When Qin, my dear friend, shared this idea to us, I believed it was something she had thought through. After obtaining more understanding of ICARE, I have no doubt that it’s Qin’s true calling, therefore, I’d like help out with my best efforts. Although things are just getting started, ICARE will accomplish its mission with might and main.

Zoey

Zoey

My name is Zoey and I have experienced five years in Europe. In Germany, Qin and I became good friends and I was totally impressed by her story and passion. Now I am back to my hometown Suzhou and accompanying my parents and pets. ICARE inspired me to help the kids who do not have enough resources via its programs.

Guizhou is my hometown, where I was born and growing up. I have seen a lot of children there who live in a difficult situation but still are passionate and diligent to life and their dream. People should have the same opportunity to be educated, no matter what environment they were given birth. ICARE Guizhou has the same core spirit as mine, so here I am.
